Mrs
W. (Seaford)
Life was a struggle for Mrs W who battled
with repeated attacks of cystitis for more
than 20 years. Antibiotics gave no relief
and she began to feel quite low as she struggled
to cope with the pain.
Ayurvedic medicine was her last hope as she
went to see Mrs Jani at the Ayurvedic Health
Centre in Hove in August last year. She has
now been free of urinary tract infection for
six months.
Mrs W. 68, a former nurse, said: "I feel
absolutely wonderful. I still take it day
by day but this is the longest I have gone
without an attack for some time."
"My cystitis just got out of hand
. I had fought against against it throughout
my life, but it became to much to cope with
mentally and physically. I was unable to sleep
at night and sometimes could not go out because
of discomfort ."
As well as the antibiotics, she drank large
amounts of water and cranberry juice which
is traditionally seen as a cure for the illness
which affects millions of women . Yet all
her efforts were in vain.
She was so daunted at the prospect of an ayurvedic
life style. She did not opt for the panchakama
detoxification but was advised on a diet and
took herbal supplements according to her water
dosha.
Mrs W. a grandmother of seven, took ten tablets
a day cut down on tea and coffee and yogurt.
She had no herbal Massages or steam therapy
and did not take up meditation or Yoga nor
did she loose weight with ayurveda. She said
"At first I noticed no change and feared
it was a waste of time. Yet gradually over
three months the pain lessened and I gained
energy." I can now go out all day and
love having the grandchildren to stay. "I
feel on top of the world" |
Mrs B. (Dorset)
When Mrs B. started putting on weight and
found herself struggling to get up in the
mornings she had to seek help.
Over the years she felt increasingly sluggish,
bloated and little energy to look after her
two year old daughter, Victoria.
Mrs B, 32, who juggles looking after her daughter
with studying for an Open University degree,
said "I would drag myself out of bed
in a morning and feel absolutely dreadful.
I had to just keep eating through he day to
have any energy. I wasn't really heavy but
felt weighed down and lethargic."
She went to the doctor about her low blood
sugar levels but found them unhelpful. A nurse
told her she was suffering from candida in
the stomach, which causes tiredness and bloating,
but her health deteriorated. Exercising and
dieting only made her feel worse.
However, after only a few weeks of Ayurvedic
treatment with Dr Jani, she had already lost
10lbs. Hove based Mrs B said "I feel
Amazing and have so much energy now. I get
up at 7am every morning with such ease. I
had to take a nap in the afternoon before,
but now I can just keep going throughout the
day."
She defended claims that publicity of people
such a Geri Halliwell suggested ayurveda could
cause people to get dangerously thin. She
said: "Geri defiantly looks on the verge
of anorexia but this is due to other factors
as well as ayurveda. I had lost weight but
not dangerously so. Ayurvedic medicine just
re balances you and helps you achieve your
natural weight."
After she was diagnosed as a water/fire dosha.
Mrs B. followed the panchakhama detox for
21 days. She was told the water element related
to her weight gain, sluggishness and huge
appetite. She cut out cold, watery foods which
she was advised may cause water retention.
She was not instructed to do vast amounts
of yoga, preferring to run.
She said: "The treatment was quite costly
but it has been worth every penny. I would
be willing to go without buying a single item
of clothing for a year rather than live without
ayurveda. It has become a way of life." |
